Mechanical Face Seals

      Mechanical Face Seals are designed for rotary seal applications demanding extreme environmental design, extremely wear-resistant and can prevent external rough grinding media intrusion. Also known as the Face Seals, heavy seal, floating seal, floating seal, biconical seal or toric seal.

There are two different types of Mechanical Face Seals:

· DO type is the most common form, the use of O-ring as secondary sealing elements.

· DF type with elastomer has a rhombic cross section as a secondary sealing element instead of the O-ring.

Both types of seals are made of two metal seals formed, which face mounted in a separate chamber, the elastomeric member in the seal chamber pair. A mechanical face seal for the static ring remains stationary in the chamber, the other is dynamic surround mating end rotation.
